About Meraki

“We shall be notes in that great Symphony
Whose cadence circles through the rhythmic spheres,
And all the live World’s throbbing heart shall be
One with our heart, the stealthy creeping years
Have lost their terrors now, we shall not die,
The Universe itself shall be our Immortality!”
-          ‘We Are Made One with What We Touch and See’ by Oscar Wilde

Humans have always lusted after immortality. There is nothing that we crave more. Take any pursuit of ours from Alchemy to Medical science, the ultimate purpose is to become immortal, to live longer than our years. When I dwell on the reason for this only one thing comes to mind – we are scared of death and we try every possible way to escape it. But if you look at history, no one has been able to elude death forever. Death comes – sure, certain and inevitable. So is the pursuit of immortality really futile? Should we just give up and lose our purpose? The answer is NO. The secret of immortality was discovered long ago and it is right in front of our eyes, we just do not have the power to perceive it.

Definition: Meraki (pronounced: may-rah-kee); Greek; adjective
1. To do something with soul, creativity, or love.
2. To put “something of yourself” into what you’re doing.
There is no English equivalent for this word. Meraki is, unsurprisingly, untranslatable.

When you are a part of something bigger than yourself, when you become a part of the whole – at that moment, you cease to exist and your immortal self is born. That is the purpose of Meraki. Meraki is not a word that can be found in normal, conventional dictionaries and this is so because it is not something to be trifled with. It is dangerous, mark my words. When you become one with your creation, when you tear away a part of your soul and put it in whatever you have created, there is huge risk – you may go mad, you may lose whatever tenuous grip you have on sanity – the world will denounce you – you will be a heretic, you will be burnt at stakes – but isn’t it worth it in the end? You will be one with what you love and I cannot think of a better or more fitting end for someone who is in love with his work.
We have taken on the Herculean task of bringing works of Meraki to every individual. It is a shortcut to immortality – the prophesied Philosopher’s Stone. Come, be immortal. Love and show that love. Make your writing immortal. Read and become a part of someone else for that duration. Experience a million lives, a million places and a million sensations in the works of others and make others a part of you by sharing your own story. Come, be a part of Meraki. Read, Write and be one with us…with the universe!

  1. May I submit movie reviews for posting. My reviews are mostly about good and quality movies, offbeat movies. Most of those movies are not mentioned anywhere. They hardly find any takers.
